I saw an article in my local paper. The local tissue bank was wanting *normal* breast tissue samples for research. I was going to be in the area, so I signed up.

The whole experience was great. Everyone was very positive, helpful, thankful you where there to donate your time and tissue for research.

They were very organized. Greeted you at the door. Not only showed you where to go, but had a volunteer personally TAKE you there.

They took your weight, you filled out a health history, donated blood. One of the questions on the health history was how many kids do you have? 5 Did you breastfeed and how long? Had to do the math on that one. We breastfed all 5 kids till they were a year and a half old. They wanted the answer in months. 90 months. 7 1/2 years. I told the lady next to me, “someone looking at this won’t believe it”. She laughed and said her mom breastfed all 8 of her kids.

Then it came time for the tissue sample. I was a little worried about how I would do. Would prefer to pass on needle sticks any time I can. Cant’ really stand going to the dentist.

But, once I got past the *stick*. I was numb. The doctor and nurse were great. Very comforting to talk to while the procedure was happening. They took 3 small samples–each about the size of a pea.

That was it. All over. Not bad at all. Would do it again.

They did not give us any money (was not looking for any) for our time. But we did get a great pink t-shirt. And a Vera Bradley ID case. (picture coming soon)

How cool is that?

Visit your local chapter and see how you can donate as well. Susan G. Komen

I’m waiting to activate the falling snow.

I love this time of the year.

How to study the Bible

October 29, 2009
by armourcleaning

Wasn’t sure what this book had in store for me.  I mean really, how many different ways can you study.  I can only think of a couple that I was taught in school.  But 40 of them.  40 different methods to study the bible?  Really?

Well, folks, that is what is packed into this book.

book-cover I enjoyed learning the method in chapter 38.  *Studing the Miracles*–I’m at a point right now I need to be reading these events in the Bible.  The book explain how to take it step by step.  Gives handwritten examples of what it *should* look like.  Honestly, I don’t think there is a wrong or right way.  Just as long as you are in the Word.

I will be giving this book away.  All you have to do, is leave a comment, be sure to include your email, so that I can contact you.  This contest will end on Nov. 5th at midnight.

  • This book was sent to me by the PR of the author.  I will not be keeping the book.  It will be given away.  Dear FTC–I made no money from it.  In the end, it will cost me. :o )
  • Disclaimer: I was given a free product for review purposes only. My reviews are not monetarily compensated and have not been influenced by the sponsor in any way, unless otherwise disclosed. Each review is based on the reactions and opinions of myself and/or family.

Toy Story 3

TS3posterIt’s coming out in June 2010.  I tired to get the trailer to post here.  I couldn’t get the code to work here.  My oldest  l- o- v- e- d this story.  So did I as well.  It will be fun to watch this one as *Andy* has grown up some.  Our VHS tape of this movie didn’t make it through crumb #3, so 2 of our kids haven’t seen any of the movies.  VHS–yeah, that makes me sound old.  We will purchase these when they all hit the stores again.  This will be a great movie to show to the grand-crumbs someday–UGH, I sound old again.  Maybe I should change my name from, *Momma Crumb* to *Old Crumb*.  Sigh

Be sure to come back later to visit the crumbs, I’ll be giving away a copy of this book.

I keep finding these little babies to pray for. I hope that if you’re stopping by today you will join me in prayer.

The Lord is so good. Look at this precious baby boy. Even though times are hard, he is a blessing to his family. Everything happens for a reason. Stop by their site and say a prayer.

On Oprah

So, you’ve seen my other post about this story.  I guess he will now be on Oprah today.  gs

The local news checked his background.  He does have a *history*.  Don’t we all?

But sometimes we get to a point in our lives where we want a new start.

We long for a new setting.  New surroundings.  We want a change.

I believe that’s what he wanted.  But didn’t know how to get to it.   I am not in any way dismissing what he did.  It was wrong.  But my point is, that God will break us down to nothing.  To build us up to where He wants us to be.  I, for one will be looking through the book of Job today.

Just a couple of stories past this one on the news last night was a story of a robbery where one family member stood up to the attackers.  The attackers then killed all 7 of the family.  Including children.

Life is hard to understand.   Sometimes.  God is hard to understand.  Sometimes.

Life is hard to understand…why did 7 family members need to die.  Including innocent children.  I can’t wrap my head around that one right now.  But I know it happened for a reason.

Life is good…sometimes.  This comes in the hope and excitement of a new baby.  A new job.  An new marriage.  First day of school.  The smell of a baby fresh from the tub–all clean and ready for slumber.  A beautiful lazy summer afternoon.  Ice Cream–any flavor.

God is hard to understand…why did all 7 family members need to die?  And children?  Why are things so crazy in life?  Why do we need to go through so much pain?  Why did Sept. 11 th need to happen?

God is hard to understand…sometimes. We can see God’s work in the face of a newborn.  In the beauty of a new day and with the morning sky He painted for us.   Every day is a fresh start.

We can see in the video(see other post) His power.  She prayed with him.  He got on his knees.  I believe God had a smile on His face when this all happened.

Because He knew that His child was at the bottom.

And the only way from there is up.   He gives us *free will*.  He lets us make the choices.  With every event, we (hopefully) come closer to Him.  Hopefully, this person will make a change.  Hopefully he won’t add anymore to his *history* in a negative way.  I’ll be praying for him.  Will he fail again…yep, probably.  We all do.  We are made of flesh and are weak when we are not leaning on the Lord.  But with the Lord all things are possible.

We all need a starting point, don’t we?

His Grace and Mercy are abundant.

Just for the Joy!

October 22, 2009
by armourcleaning

Well, my new friend is hosting a carnival on Thursdays.  And who could use some joy on Thursdays–me that’s for sure.  I’m in a *foggy* place right now and can’t think of the joy.  But I know I will be blessed to stop by and read what others have posted.

Take a visit to her place, play along.  Find the joy in your journey or have a smile from reading about someone else’s joy.  Blessings come to us in many ways.  We just miss them sometimes because we are so busy–to catch the joy.
